Skyline Rep's Nor*Cal in Vail
Skyline Lacrosse players; Ryan Ellis, Jack Shaw, William Izu, and Sean Hughes participated on the U15 Nor*Cal Vail Travel team this year.
The team, coached by Skyline coach Dede Szykier, had an amazing week of tough competition. After two days of round robin play the team seeded 5th in the A bracket to beat the 3Frogs, whom they tied on the first day of play, to advance to the semi finals.
In the Semi's, NorCal team took on Colorado Select Blue, the only loss NorCal suffered so far. It was an intense game, Colorado was leading 6-2 into the half. NorCal would not backdown, rallying to tie the score at 6-6 and hold the Blue to no goals in the second half. The game went into double overtime with NorCal scoring the winning goal and advancing to the Finals against FCA from Maryland. Nor*Cal went head to head in the final game taking the lead at the end of the first quarter, but FCA made adjustments and came out victorious in the end.
You may assume Nor*Cal is done right? Think again. The Vail tournament was a qualifying tournament for a bid to the Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions, the top two teams received bids. Nor*Cal will be traveling to Tampa Bay Florida in January to compete against the best of the best in the country. We wish the team and the Skyline players and coach the best of luck in January. Go Nor*Cal and Go Skyline!
